Directorate of Myanma Industrial Planning (DMIP)

 

The Directorate of Myanma Industrial Planning is the only department under the Ministry of Industry (2) whose main function is to coordinate the activities of the five industrial enterprises under the Ministry. In accordance with the directions  and guidelines of the Ministry, the Directorate undertakes the drafting and compilation of projects and production plans, financial and budget requirements, legal and personnel matters and other affairs concerning the enterprises.

 

The Directorate is headed by the Director General. It is constituted with Research and Development Division, Planning and Statistics Division, Finance Division, Industrial Zones Supervision Division. Each Division is managed by a Director.

 

The Director General of DMIP is being assigned as the Secretary of Myanma Industrial Development Working Committee (MIDWC) also. The MIDWC is chaired by the Minister of Industry (2). It has (9) Sub-Committees engaging with the development of private industries in the industrial zones.

 

The Directorate also coordinates various activities among the enterprises, such as conducting of exhibitions, seminars, workshops and training, etc.

 

The Directorate is the focal point of Myanmar for ASEAN SME Agencies Working Group. A  SME Sub-Committee chaired by thew Director General of DMIP, had been formed to attend to matters relating to promotion of small and medium enterprises as per resolution adopted at the meetings of ASEAN SME Agencies Working Group.

 

The Directorate negotiates with the representatives of foreign firms for mutual cooperation, such as forming of joint ventures with the industrial enterprises under the Ministry, technological licensing, etc.
